Global Packaging Strategy Initiative

Type: Corporate Strategy Case
Within a global e-commerce organisation, packaging had become a growing strategic challenge. Increasing shipment volumes, rising sustainability expectations, and operational complexity required a coordinated redesign of packaging systems across multiple markets.
The objective was to rethink fashion item packaging in order to reduce material usage, improve recyclability and enhance the overall customer experience while maintaining operational scalability.
I led the strategic development of a pan-European packaging initiative, defining the overall direction and framework for reducing packaging materials across fashion shipments.
My role focused on translating sustainability objectives into a scalable operational strategy, aligning cross-functional stakeholders and structuring the initiative from initial concept to global rollout preparation. This included driving strategic decision-making, coordinating multiple teams across regions, and ensuring alignment between sustainability goals, customer experience and operational feasibility.
Strategic analysis and concept development included:
• Packaging system analysis across fulfilment processes
• Development of a packaging reduction strategy
• Identification of recyclable material alternatives
• Alignment of sustainability and operational constraints
• Cross-functional coordination across logistics, operations and product teams
• Definition of project roadmap, milestones and implementation pathways
The initiative required close collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders across functions and markets.
The project established a strategic roadmap for reducing outer packaging and improving recyclability within fashion shipments. The approach enabled measurable packaging reduction across European markets and laid the groundwork for global adoption within the organisation’s packaging strategy.
